Becoming a PADI IDC Staff Instructor gives you an insight into the actual instructor development process and prepares you to shape the next generation of PADI professionals.

After a pre-assessment of your instructor-level knowledge of dive theory, exemplary dive skills and role-model presentation techniques, you’ll participate in these sessions:

  • Instructor development standards, procedures and curriculum
  • How to organize and conduct the PADI Assistant Instructor course
  • The psychology of evaluation and counselling
  • Evaluating knowledge development, confined water and open water teaching presentations
  • Plus, you’ll get to audit an IDC or practice teaching many curriculum components

As a PADI IDC Staff Instructor, you can independently teach PADI Assistant Instructor Courses as well as assist with IDC’s and other instructor-level continuing education courses.

Teach PADI Assistant Instructor Courses

Assist PADI Course Directors in conducting the PADI Instructor Development Course

Assist PADI Course Directors in conducting instructor-level continuing education

Required Materials and Equipment

You will need to equip yourself with all the basic scuba gear expected of a PADI Instructor and some accessories such as a surface signalling devices, dive knife, compass, dive watch, etc.

In order to evaluate candidate presentations you will need the PADI Course Director Manual as well as the Confined Water Presentation Evaluation slate and the Open Water Presentation Evaluation slate.

These materials can be ordered through Instructor Development Philippines prior to the start of the course.

  • You must be a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer
  • At least 18 years old
  • Be renewed and in Teaching status as a PADI Instructor for the current year
